Learning Lino-Cut – Tuesdays in March

Linocut Print and Plate displayed in printing press

Beginning Relief Printing:

Printing using a carving method, like linocut, is a great introduction to printmaking. In this 4-week course we will explore all aspects of this process – from generating ideas for drawing, block preparation/transferring our drawings to linoleum blocks, carving the blocks, and then printing black and white or color prints.

The linocut technique is great for making fine art prints, artistic cards, and even printing on textiles.

Pysanka Saturday Workshop – March 2nd

Decorated Eggs

The Pysanka, a decorated egg, was common among Slavic people as far back as 5,000 B.C., symbolizing nature’s rebirth. When decorating eggs in the Ukrainian style, designs are drawn on the egg with melted beeswax, which flows from a tool called a Kystka. The eggs are then dipped in a series of dyes and the final pattern is revealed when the wax is removed. Instructor Lesia Sochor is an artist of Ukrainian descent. She learned the ancient tradition of decorating Pysanky from her mother and has shared this craft in numerous workshops throughout the state.

This workshop is best suited for ages 11 and up. Saturday, March 2nd from 10am-12pm.

Adult Members $25

Adult Non-Members $30

Children $5 (with attending adult)
