Moments of Home and Place: Young Curators 2026
January 16 – May 2, 2026
The Zillman Art Museum is pleased to present a selection of artwork curated by its 2025-2026 class of Young Curators. This innovative and long-standing program is unique to ZAM and provides local high school students with an in-depth opportunity to experience the behind-the-scenes workings of an art museum. Delving into curatorial practice, students conduct research and collaborate to create a unique exhibition from the collection.
Moments of Home and Place highlights two-dimensional artworks that explore themes of family and home. The students began the exhibition collaboration by looking at N.C. Wyeth’s painting, From his father Charles August learned one golden truth–no degree of adversity can conquer the unconquerable. The Wyeth work, with its familial scene of a bed-ridden father bestowing germane advice to his young son, informed the selection of additional artworks. The students chose their favorite piece to research and write accompanying wall text. While the selection is diverse in genre and medium, the thread that binds these artworks are feelings of home and place. Many of the scenes and situations offer a glimpse into recognizable domestic traditions.
