DESCRIPTION:SATURDAY\, March 18th 2016 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.\nFREE\, ages 10 and up \nIn conjunction with the MAINE SCIENCE FESTIVAL\, The University of Maine Museum of Art will open its doors for a FREE art-making activity day. Join Education Coordinator Kat Johnson in creating a colossal cranium out of paper mâché. Participants will learn the basics of large-scale sculpture\, and help build a giant human skull inspired by the upcoming Smithsonian exhibition at the BANGOR PUBLIC LIBRARY. SUMMARY:Busy Quilts - Session 1
DESCRIPTION:Sometimes known as a ‘fidget’ or ‘fiddle quilt’\, these activity blankets provide hand and mind therapy for people living with the disease. Zippers\, ribbons\, buckles and snaps\, along with textured material aid in the sensory and tactile stimulation for those who may be restless. \nOn two Saturdays\, June 17th and June 24th\, from 11 am – 3 pm the Museum classroom will open it’s doors for experienced participants to assist in the construction of these quilts. Take-away packaged items are also available for those who can only drop in. Once complete\, these quilts will be distributed to those in need in our community. DESCRIPTION:UMMA presents the nineteenth annual Summer Art Camp! A fun\, educational art experience held at the Museum in the heart of downtown Bangor. \nSessions are held in the Museum classroom and galleries. Campers will have the opportunity to view and talk about art and participate in a wide array of hands-on art activities. \nProjects include print making\, drawing\, painting\, and sculpture. Children also enjoy time outdoors to create art in one of Bangor’s beautiful parks adjacent to UMMA.
